Did H&S just go too far? Heinz beans advert banned by watchdog
Advert banned for Health and Safety reasons.
We all know the advert by now and have probably had the tune stuck in our heads more than a few times. But you won’t be seeing it anymore. The advertising watchdog has banned the advert for health and safety reasons claiming it puts people at risk of cutting their fingers. Ridiculous, we know.
The ban comes after 3 viewers complained that the advert showed dangerous behaviour that could cause serious harm if copied, particularly to children.
Heinz have denied that the advert was a risk to anyone.
The ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) said the actors would have had more training in flipping and twirling cans than the average viewer.
“For the reasons given and because the ad did not include information on how to ensure consumer safety when recreating the song, we concluded that the ad condoned and encouraged behaviour that prejudiced health or safety,” They stated
Here’s the advert….
BUT BE WARNED DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME – WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK!
